All of my working life I looked forward to the day I would retire.  From the first day I sat at my desk in the office I dreamed of the freedom that retirement would bring, all the things that I longed to do but couldn’t because I was chained to my desk and a full-time job.

When I finally did retire twenty-six years later at the young age of fifty, I was surprised to find that it was not as straight forward as I’d imagined.  I thought I’d be off learning new languages, and circling the globe.  Instead I found myself trying to find my footing in this new journey through life.

Finding my retirement legs is much like finding your sea legs aboard a ship.  Stumbling about and losing direction is not uncommon for beginners.  This blog is the journey of learing to remain upright throughout the storms and enjoy the ride.
