Wine

Sometimes the Universe provides the perfect collision of ideas to create poetry. After yesterday’s poem on Running Water Wines I was surprised to find today’s NaPoWriMo challenge to write about wine-and-love, that is, to write an Anacreontic. Anacreontics might be described as a sort of high-falutin’ drinking song. Okay, I thought, I can do that. And then, as fate may have it, the first song randomly playing on my iPod during my morning run was Pink, from my all-time favorite band, Aerosmith. So, today, to the tune of Pink, I give you….. Wine.

Wine

Wine it’s my new profession, yeah
Wine, it can cure your depression
Wine it’s a taste you discover, ‘cause
Wine shows what’s under the covers

Wine it’s kinda like sherry
But wine, it’s my favorite berry
Wine it’s the flavor of passion
If you try you can savor in fashion

Wine, let me set up a flight, c’mon
Wine now the time feels just right, and
Wine maybe red or it’s white
And I say everything’s going to be alright
No matter how much we drink tonight

You be the vine I’ve been plantin’
Wine, it will make you speak Latin
Wine and you’ll be kind of silly, cause
Wine makes you smart, but not really

Wine let me set up a flight, c’mon
Wine now the time feels just right, and
Wine maybe red or it’s white
And I say everything is going to be alright
No matter how much we drink tonight

I want to drink from your glass
I want the cork from your ass
Wine it’s some trouble we’ll get in, ’cause
Wine, from our pores will be sweatin’

Wine let me set up a flight, c’mon
Wine now the time is just right, and
Wine maybe red or it’s white
And I say everything is going to be alright
No matter how much we drink tonight
