Night Escape

As lilting bird has come to guide the way
And brilliant stars to light the darkened path
Doe eyes a glow stand guard our stealth parade
We make this day; this night may be our last
In billowed gowns our course white wanders through
Green needled limbs outstretched to strike us back
But left, I’d left and you had long gone too
Long before this night of silent trek
We dance away from rules and broken things
Tip toe softly over next unbroken twig
To find us now they’d pull us under wing
But we’ll be back before the rooster sings
